"My work refers to the idea of the loss of skill and neglect in the form of corrosion and decay. I have been developing the work around the themes of mechanical and medical instruments and science fiction. This highlights a paradox in that seemingly smooth, highly reflective, futuristic pieces cannot show signs of ageing. Working with a corrosive surface gives the pieces a complete contrast: the unaccepted deterioration of a modern image."
