Return to Tableware
Discussing the works in the Ceramic Contemporaries 4 exhibition

Knowledge and Understanding:
Tableware and other functional forms
Unusually for tableware, this also has landscape qualities, with the small bowl nestling in a hollow of the undulating plate like a building tucked into a hillside. What kind of food would be eaten from a plate and bowl like this? The question encourages pupils to think imaginatively about the rituals of the table, ethnicity (the design perhaps suggests oriental foods), current food fashions - even the phenomenon of ‘celebrity chefs’.
