"My work is predominantly 'functional' often interpreting traditional forms, informed by historical references and the act of making in clay. More recently the emphasis and focus has shifted. I have been working on pieces with perhaps a more instinctive approach than previously. Using 'function' as a starting point, I have made a series of forms concentrating on the teapot for its cultural and ritual resonance and its potential as an image."
