"These wheel base forms were initially driven by function but the ceramic expression of the individual vessel became more than the pure function. Having become familiar with porcelain I was able to use it as an expressive medium. The college built a salt kiln and this led to a very exciting period in my own education. The process of salt glazing is full of surprises and I learned that one has only control to a limited extent. This realisation has allowed me to work through process and medium and the end result is a combination of my personality, porcelain and the process of firing."
